How Can I Overcome Evil by Good?

Romans 12:21 – Do not be Overcome by Evil but Overcome Evil by Good. ( New English Translation NET)

So as the verse talks about we must overcome Evil by doing or defeating evil by doing good, lets dive into a Eloborated form. Lets read the whole scripture Romans 12.

Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—alive, holy, and pleasing to God—which is your reasonable service. Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith. For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.

And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith. If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach; if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness. Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another with mutual love, showing eagerness in honoring one another.

Do not lag in zeal, be enthusiastic in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, pursue hospitality. Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil; consider what is good before all people. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people. Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God’s wrath, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Let’s be practical, overcome evil with good sound quite easy rather than following it. It’s take a lot of efforts, having a stable control over our temper. We live in an Environment where we are surrounded which chaos for that very reason we seek for clarity in chaos. We speak swords out of out mouth, when in anger we speak evil, when in group we gossip. Is this the purpose of our Life?

We need to understand that if we plant goodnesses in ourselves we harvest good habits but if we promote worthless habits, keeping negative thoughts our purpose of life is on the verge of getting destroyed only due to our evil acts . We being called as Christians we hold our submissiveness to God as well as we hold our purposed towards the life that God gave to us.God simply wants us to build our relationship to be strong in him and having Faith, we ought to know that, a good man bring out good qualities out of him, but a bad human being brings out evil out, as the only thing stored in themselves were a pile of malafide intentions. Going through the verse Romans 12:21 God only wants our movement to be surrounded by a simple love, tender heart and being submissive to God.

Being submissive to God is about our Sacrifice of our Body and Mind, reconstruct ourselves to be sincere. Being faithful to God is all about love being sincere, hate evil, and do good. We need to exercise our love in God just by having faith in him being steady in him and thus by building a solid relationship in God.

When Jesus was on Earth he lived a Pure Holy Life, Jesus was only the holiest person in this world who ever lived.

Being Christian is all about having a heart that forgives. Bible teaches us bless the ones who persecute us. It is all about our heart being sincere to God and have a hold for what is bad .
